This bussiness was started by a group of students who are now in year 10 so they don't have time to do this. So we disided to carry it on. We are adding and improving this group as you are reading. We are aiming to save life of the young and the old.

Our Story

We decided to make Safety Citizens during a Humanities lesson at school. We’d been studying Road Safety and we’d had to find some statistics on road accidents and deaths. So, we went on the Department of Transports website and found the fatal accident statistics. We were amazed by how many people had died. It was going down, but slowly, and we wanted the deaths to stop. Full stop.
But we didn’t know how to save lives. We’re twelve years old! Then we discovered Piranha and their safety jackets. So we had what we needed, knew what we wanted. Now, all we had to do, was do it.
So, we gave a pitch to the head teachers of six schools, to try and get them to buy jackets. When we asked who was interested, every teacher put their hands up.
Still not satisfied, we entered a competition, the Regional Enterprise Competition. Because we didn’t do half the things we were meant to, we could only try to win three out of six prizes. We won two out of three!
So now we are in the finals, and we even have a sponsor! Aerovac are giving us money to put their name on our jackets.

Support from the Police

Shortly after we decided to create the business Safety Citizens, Mr. Mitton (our humanities teacher) contacted the Grassingotn Traffic Police and asked an officer to come in to our school to encorouge us. PC Dixon of the Traffic Police in Grassington came in to see us. He's supporting our ideas. We have had a lot of pictures taken with him.
